Vanilla Bean Dessert Bars

Ingredients
  

For the Crust
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
For the Filling
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

Equipment

  • 8x8 inch baking pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and melted butter for the crust until combined. Press evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, salt, eggs, and vanilla bean paste for the filling until smooth.
  5. Pour the filling over the crust and bake for 25 minutes, or until set.
  6. Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle powdered sugar on top before serving.
