Pigs in a Blanket Wreath

A simple and festive appetizer made with mini sausages wrapped in crescent dough.

Ingredients
  

For the Wreath
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent dough
  • 24 mini sausages or hot dogs
  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash
  • sesame seeds or poppy seeds optional, for garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough and separate it into triangles. Cut each triangle into 3 smaller triangles.
  3. Place a mini sausage at the wide end of each dough triangle and roll it up.
  4. Arrange the wrapped sausages in a circle on the baking sheet to form a wreath shape, leaving a small gap in the center.
  5. Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a slice of cheese before rolling the sausages in the dough.
