- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the mushrooms, onion, and garlic. Cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir to coat. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Cook until thickened, about 3 minutes.
- Stir in the green beans, salt, and pepper. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
- Bake for 25 minutes. Sprinkle the french fried onions on top and bake for another 5 minutes.
