Description

Effortlessly delicious Mississippi Chicken: a slow-cooked recipe combining chicken, ranch, au jus, butter, and pepperoncini for a tangy, spicy, and savory flavor explosion. Perfect for sandwiches, rice bowls, and more!

Ingredients

Scale
  • Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 packet Ranch dressing mix
  • 1 packet Au Jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into pats
  • 46 Pepperoncini peppers, whole or sliced

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker, ensuring they are evenly distributed at the bottom.
  2. Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and au jus gravy mix over the chicken.
  3. Place pats of butter evenly on top of the chicken.
  4. Arrange the pepperoncini peppers on top. Use whole for milder flavor, sliced for more spice.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and easily shreds with a fork.
  6. Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks, allowing it to absorb the sauce.
  7. Serve on buns for sandwiches, over rice, or with mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Don’t add water; the chicken will release its own juices.
  • Adjust the spice by reducing pepperoncini or adding red pepper flakes.
  • For a creamier sauce, add cream cheese during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Incorporate veggies like onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms for added flavor.
  • A splash of apple cider vinegar can add extra tanginess.
