Description
Effortlessly delicious Mississippi Chicken: a slow-cooked recipe combining chicken, ranch, au jus, butter, and pepperoncini for a tangy, spicy, and savory flavor explosion. Perfect for sandwiches, rice bowls, and more!
Ingredients
Scale
- Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 packet Ranch dressing mix
- 1 packet Au Jus gravy mix
- 1/2 cup butter, cut into pats
- 4–6 Pepperoncini peppers, whole or sliced
Instructions
- Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker, ensuring they are evenly distributed at the bottom.
- Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix and au jus gravy mix over the chicken.
- Place pats of butter evenly on top of the chicken.
- Arrange the pepperoncini peppers on top. Use whole for milder flavor, sliced for more spice.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and easily shreds with a fork.
- Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker using two forks, allowing it to absorb the sauce.
- Serve on buns for sandwiches, over rice, or with mashed potatoes.
Notes
- Don’t add water; the chicken will release its own juices.
- Adjust the spice by reducing pepperoncini or adding red pepper flakes.
- For a creamier sauce, add cream cheese during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Incorporate veggies like onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms for added flavor.
- A splash of apple cider vinegar can add extra tanginess.
