Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pasta (penne, rotini, or elbows)
- 4 cups vegetable or chicken broth
- 1 (24-ounce) jar pasta sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Combine pasta, broth, pasta sauce, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and olive oil (if using) in the Instant Pot. Ensure pasta is submerged in liquid.
- Close the Instant Pot lid and set the valve to sealing. Select manual or pressure cook setting and set cook time to half the time indicated on the pasta package, minus one minute.
- Once the cooking time is up, do a quick release of pressure. Be cautious of the steam.
- Open the lid and stir the pasta. If there’s excess liquid, stir continuously for a minute or two until it thickens.
- Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of liquid based on the type of pasta. Ensure pasta is just covered.
- For a richer flavor, add Italian seasoning or red pepper flakes.
- To prevent sticking, add a tablespoon of olive oil.
- If pasta is too al dente, add a minute or two to the cooking time.
