Instructions
- Prepare the Ground Beef and Vegetables: Remove ground beef from packaging. If using vegetables, dice them into small, even pieces.
- Sauté Vegetables (Optional): Turn on the Instant Pot and select the ‘Sauté’ function. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil or cooking fat. Once heated, add diced vegetables and sauté for 3-5 minutes until tender and fragrant.
- Brown the Ground Beef: Add ground beef to the Instant Pot, breaking it apart. Brown for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink.
- Pressure Cook the Ground Beef: Drain any excess grease. Pour in beef broth or water, scraping the bottom to deglaze. Season with salt, pepper, and other seasonings. Close the lid, ensuring the pressure valve is set to sealing. Select ‘Manual’ or ‘Pressure Cook’ and set the cooking time to 8 minutes.
- Release Pressure and Shred the Beef: Allow the Instant Pot to naturally release pressure for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, carefully perform a quick release. Once all the pressure is released, open the lid. Use a fork to shred the ground beef into smaller pieces, if desired.

- Choose leaner ground beef (90/10 or 93/7) to reduce grease.
